Conclusion
It is now apparent that we can draw a line between an inmates socio-economic status growing up and their choice of last meal. For their last meal, a majority of inmates choose a meal that may be described as comfort food for the underprivileged or economically disadvantaged. The fact that the traditional foods of the hamburger, pizza, or ice cream are widely available and cheap to the lower-class is indicative that these foods were the inmates only comfort foods growing up. Also, now that their backstories are known, it is apparent that the traumatic events of their youth influenced their future as killers. They grew up impoverished, were subject to a traumatizing event, developed an addiction to drugs, or developed mental illness. More importantly, they are a product of their own environment. What makes this list so sad is that these killers had no control over what was presented to them growing up. The root of the worlds problem with serial killers stems from our inability to protect the young impressionable minds of our youth from abuse.
'I feel the death penalty is not an answer to the problems at hand. I feel it sends the wrong message to the people of this country. Young people act as they see other people acting instead of as people tell them to act. I would advise that when a person has a thought of doing anything serious against the law, that before they did, they should go to a quiet place and think about it seriously.' - William Bonin
